Culture and Creative IndustriesKKW Wirtschaftsforschung Berlin - formerly MKW Saarbrücken/München - has been working on the major reports on cultural industries in the EU since 2000. The terms "Creative Industries", "Cultural Economy", "Creative economy" are mostly used as as synonyms (see The definition of cultural industries in the EU ). To analyse and develop strategies for the sector, the team at KKW uses an economic and employment oriented approach. The Creative Industries belong to the fastest growing and most innovative sectors of the world economy - and therefore are focused on by current studies. The actual study for the European Commission, "The Economy of Culture in Europe", gives an overview of the importance of the Cultural Economy in Europe. The first cross-border report on Culture and Creative Industries for the Limburg Province/Maastricht (including the Lüttich/Liege - Belgium and Aachen - Germany region) completes our work. Maastricht applies for European Capital of Culture 2018. This website offers our own work for download and links to other research groups. Comments and suggestions are welcome anytime. A notable development in the field of culture and creative industries has taken place in recent years in Berlin-Neukölln. We conducted a workshop with the creative class and cultural initiatives from Berlin-Neukölln in cooperation with the local authorities of the district. |
